Get Pigeons out of your Attic

Pigeons-In-Attic

What's the noise in the attic, could that just be pigeon noise? How did they even get there in the first place? Well that's not as important as finding out how to get them out and protect your attic before it's completely ruined with their droppings.

Pigeon feces, body wastes, and feathers splattered all over the attic coupled with the unpleasant stench that fills the air after their decay is definitely not a picture of a hygienic attic environment.

Here we share with you smart tips to getting rid of pigeons in your attic.

1. Tidy Up the Entire Attic

The first step to creating a safe environment in your attic is to clean up the mess caused by the pigeons, but you'll want to do this with your personal protective equipment, such as your face mask and gloves. Pigeon dropping metamorphoses into dusty particles, and you don't want to be inhaling any of that while cleaning, your mask is your security guard. Moments before cleaning, you can lure the pigeons into a cage by putting birdseed in a bowl and placing it within the cage. After all these steps are completed, it's time to close the entry point for these birds. Some windows or openings in the room must have been giving them easy access into the building. So it is important to seal up all entry spaces with chicken wire or cement, and wave goodbye to pigeons in the attic.

2. Set Up Barriers

Let's try another method of using sticky chemicals that make the attic an uncomfortable place for the pigeons to perch on. The chemicals can be purchased at your local store and should be applied as recommended. Remember to have on your personal protective equipment while applying the chemicals to areas where the pigeons roost within your attic.

3. Use Waterproof Strings

Knot one end of the string from one end of the wall to another, this is a less strenuous process when your attic doesn't occupy a very large area. The string will create the needed discomfort that'll leave the pigeons no other option than to exit your attic.

4. Spice Up Your Attic

In case you're wondering what this means, don’t worry, we'll explain. Spray some cinnamon, cayenne pepper, etc., within your attic where the pigeons roost and repeat after wet weather. Pigeons do not thrive under the smell of hot pepper and you'll have successfully created an environment that deters them.

5. Use Ultrasonic Devices.

These devices have been proven over time to be effective in driving away animals including pigeons. They can be purchased in stores within your area or online. Some of them come in very handy and are designed to repel pigeons by emitting a mixture of ultrasonic, sonic, and powerful flashing LED strobe lights that frighten the birds away. With this, there's no messy chemical or dead pigeons lying within your attic.

Have you got pigeons in your attic? By now you're no longer in the dark as to how to get them out.
